The Economy Rice

You choose your one-meat-two-vegetables or two-meat-two-vegetables or three-meat-one-make-yourself-feel-better-vegetable. Then the nice gentleman looks at your plate and magically conjures up a price for your combo. The price will vary with the time of the day, the weather, and the position of the planets, even if the same dishes were selected.

True story.

SingTel offers marketing support to iPhone developers

under the agreement with SingTel, the developer gets 40 percent of sales unless revenue breaks $10,000. After that, the percentage becomes smaller.

Interesting move from SingTel. Makes me wonder, is that one country sales or worldwide sales?

Mocca Live at Esplanade

Today, I have a chance to see one of my favorite band, Mocca, performing live here in Singapore. The whole event called Mosaic Music Festival. In one word, I can explain the performance as: Awesome! It was my first time seeing them on stage, and I loved it very much.

They started the performance at 7pm. I don't exactly remember the title of the songs they played, as I was busy tweeting, and most (if not all) the songs they played are from their second album. I once had the cassette (whoa, what's that?) that I used to play repeatedly in my car, so I can't recall the title of the songs, but I know all the songs they played.

As you can see from the pictures, the view behind the stage is beautiful, and it adds some ambience to the music. They started when the sky was still quite bright, but became darker as the time passed by. To my surprise, a lot of people came to this (free) performance, and Mocca is quite known there. I remembered people used to diss me because I played Mocca in my car.

Overall, the 30 minutes performance was great. Actually they will play again tonight (as I write this) and tomorrow evening. I can't attend tonight's performance, but I definitely will come tomorrow. I hope they will play more songs from their third album, Colours. More picture below. Sorry for the quality because I only have a camera phone, not a digital SLR with uber zoom capability.

V-MODA Vibe II

I was looking for a good earphones with microphone for my iPhone. I use earphones almost everyday, so I might as well get a good one. After reading a lot of reviews and forums on the web, I ordered this earphones around last week. Some reviews I read on the net say it's good. I actually spent one day on weekend, tried to search for it in stores in Singapore, but no luck. Then I decided to order directly from their web store, since they provide (quite) cheap international shipping. After I placed my order, they sent the tracking id, so I can track the package from UPS site.

Fast forward about one week, the package arrived, in a small box.
The packaging box

Whoa, so big for earphones? I opened it to find out that the box filled with some foam thingy, and found the earphones box inside.

More info in the back

Packaging-wise, this thing looks awesome from outside, but when you try to open it, you'll find a lot of difficulties in your way. I realized that I don't have a pair of scissors nearby, so I cut things with nail clipper. Haha.. So, here are what I got inside the box:
The earphone plug, with "Rock Safely" warning

A lot of silicone caps, carrying case. VIP card, a pair of earhooks

How about sound quality? Well, I don't know. It's my first in-ear earphone. I usually use the standard iPod or iPhone earphones, and it's quite different. I can only say, for music, the sound is good compared to standard iPhone earphones. It blocks noise from outside. I have to pause the music to slightly hear the announcement on train. I cannot hear the engine sound of buses, which is quite loud. But for making calls, I prefer the old standard earphones that comes with the iPhone. It feels different when making calls, because with this earphone, you can feel your voice and it feels weird.

Anyway, that's my first experience with international purchase and delivery. Very good and pretty convenient.

Tweet Up

Tweet up with Indonesian friends in Singapore, at Pizza Hut. By the way, the drink I ordered was very good. Mango Tango, two thumbs, definitely recommended. It's like a nice tea, mixed with mango (syrup or something), cold but not too cold, sweet but not too sweet, mango-ish, but you can feel the tea, perfect!

From left to right, @amudi, @arisaja, @nekoretro, @rikaokd. Except Rika, it was the first time I met them.

Singapore: One Month Later

So, here I am, in Singapore, one month later.

I remember about 3 months ago, I accepted a new job in Singapore. I flew here one month ago, with some friends from Jakarta. My first day here was very tiring, because I have a 30+ Kg luggage to move around, and medical check-up to attend, and contract to sign, and so on. After that, I think everything went smoothly.

I had two chances to meet my friends who work for my previous employer, but in Singapore. First we had coffee somewhere in Orchard, talked about a lot of things, mostly fun. That was an awesome time. Second time we had drinks somewhere near Clarke Quay, with addition a friend come from the Philippines.

How about work? Not very interesting yet. I attended a few training. One of them was about GSM network, where I spent my time dozed off *ROFL*. Really, nothing new and uber-exciting, just like most other jobs. I got a PC at office *boo Windows*, decent screen (19 inch), and quite restricted internet access. Digital security company restrict their internet access? Sounds normal for me.

About life? I rented a room here. Quite nice room, big, quite expensive for me though. Actually, after I saw a few rooms, this is the one that feels like a real *home* room. At the first time, the owner is quite strict about things such as electricity. I don't know, maybe most people here are like that. In Indonesia, people don't care about electricity unless they run a big building. Other than that, the owner is quite nice. In fact, she and her family invited me to their "reunion lunch" before Chinese New Year. And of course, there are lots of foods as well in Chinese New Year day(s). How awesome is that! Now, take a step back, take picture, tada!

As I predicted, my first month spending here is quite a lot. Bought a new iPhone (awesome!), bought a 1 TB hard drive, applied for new mobile line, and of course, plenty of basic daily stuffs which I forgot (or too lazy) to bring here. I hope next month's spending could be under control.

So, here it is, an update after a long time. You will find more writings here in the future, promise! But, in the mean time, you can follow me on twitter, sign up for one if you aren't there yet! It's so hip *ROFL*.
